2025 Assembly Statement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Presentation Sisters Gather for Annual Meeting
 
On March 28-30, 2025, the Presentation Sisters and their associate ministers convened for a significant meeting focused on discerning and discussing their Chapter commitment and congregational mission in light of present realities in our world. This gathering underscored their commitment to advocating for justice and human dignity in today's society.
 
In a collective statement, the Presentation Sisters affirmed, "We, as Presentation sisters and associate ministers, believe in the God-given human dignity of all people. Our Gospel values compel us to demand the right of all to adequate food, shelter and medical care. We challenge the present administration to act in ways that serve the common good and honor the human rights of all in society, especially the most vulnerable. We also urge our leaders to consider in their decision-making the care of Earth as it impacts food insecurity and the world which we will leave to the next generation."
 
The meeting provided a platform for open dialogue on pressing social issues, as the Sisters emphasized the urgency of addressing systemic inequities and ensuring that the needs of the most marginalized individuals are met. Through prayerful reflection and shared insights, the Presentation Sisters reaffirmed their dedication to living out their faith through action, calling for compassionate policies that uplift rather than undermine the dignity of all.
 
As they move forward, the Presentation sisters and associate ministers are committed to working collaboratively, advocating for those in need and holding leaders accountable to uphold the rights and dignity of every person.
 
The Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary have served those in need in the Northeast and beyond for 150 years. During this time, they staffed nearly 50 schools in New York, Massachusetts, Louisiana, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Presentation sisters have served in healthcare, foreign missions, advocacy, social work, parish ministry, immigration ministry, direct service to the poor, care of Earth and much more. Together with their associate ministers, they continue the important work of carrying their mission to those in need today.
