Every week the St. Marianne Cope Parish, Cornwall, New York, prepares sandwiches and food bags for people of the city of Newburgh. Once a month Presentation sisters and associates volunteer for this task.
The last census revealed the per capita income of residents in Newburgh is $24,000, with an average rent of $1,100. That leaves over 25% of the residents below poverty level and many other struggling.
We are happy to donate both food and time to this much needed effort to help our neighbors. This opportunity to gather also provides a time for us to catch up and pray together; we also attend Mass together.
