Each year to promote the mission and legacy of Nano Nagle we award ministry grants to our sisters and associates to further the work of addressing the needs of women and children, especially as they are impacted by economic, environmental and racial inequity.
We have awarded the 2024 ministry grant allotment to the following:
Haitian Outreach University Student Assistance Fund - $2,000, Fitchburg, Mass. This grant will assist with the college expenses of Ashley St. Hilaire who is studying computerized accounting in Port au Prince, Haiti.
Country Kids Food Pantry, St. Mary’s Parish, Washingtonville, N.Y. - $1,000. The grant will be used to enhance the safe distribution of food supplies to the people.
Deacon Jack Seymour Food Pantry, St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Newburgh, N.Y. - $2,000. The grant will be used to purchase needed food items from the Hudson Valley Food Bank.
Maria Lopez for the Music and Memory Project - $1,000. The objective of the project is to enhance the spiritual well-being and memory response of the participants through the use of music.
Newburgh Women’s Craft Industry project - $1,000. The local women of the city of Newburgh with the assistance of Sister Virginia Wilkinson have repurposed jewelry making new creative pieces and now they have expanded their business to making seasonal door/wall wreaths.
Summer Reading Program. Nora Cronin Presentation Academy. Newburgh, N.Y. - $1,500. The grant will purchase summer reading books and pocket dictionaries that the girls from grades 5-8 will take home and use during the summer months.
Pre-K Playground Project. St. Bernard’s Elementary School, Fitchburg, Mass. - $1,500. The grant will be used to furnish a new playground.

Kenitha Grooms-Williams - Lantern Light Ministry New Orleans, Louisiana
Lantern Light seeks to provide hearty meals and healthy food options to the families and guests through the “Hearty Meals and Healthy Options” Program.
Erin Regan - Boston College Roche Center for Catholic Education Boston, Massachusetts
Program to educate high school students against human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation and motivate them to be agents of change in their communities.
Dr. Donaldo Batiste - University of Holy Cross-Research Institute for a Quality and Equitable Education New Orleans, Louisiana
Project identifying current challenges in the New Orleans school system and working with schools to bring about changes to policy, procedures and/or protocols to improve the quality of education for all students. Project strives to combat social injustices and racial inequity in NOLA school system.
