This past weekend we held our first in-person Assembly, "Journeying Toward Transformation,” in several years. The time was filled with life-giving input, deep sharing and time to BE with one another.
We began our time together on Friday, April 21 with prayer and reflection, followed by Bridget Bearss, RSCJ, leading us in a process to ground ourselves in the contemplative experience of presence. Throughout the day, we were invited “To BE ... in mission, in presence, in hope.” The day included periods of personal reflection, sharing in small groups and collecting our wisdom-stories for the journey ahead. We began to imagine what might be possible if we each call forth the best from one another and a commitment to be fully present in this time of accepting responsibility for creating our story anew.
On Saturday, Barbara Mullen, CSJ, led us in a process of going deeper into the idea that each of us IS mission. It is not something we do but at the very core of our being.
We welcomed Father Richard Trainor from the diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts, to offer Mass. He continued the idea of transformation in his message about the road to Emmaus.
On Saturday evening we gathered for a time of celebration as we held a baby shower to benefit Pregnancy Outreach in Massachusetts and St. Vincent de Paul Service in Newburgh, New York. It was a fun evening of games and laughter as we enjoyed being together and working together for the good of the mission.
We concluded our time together on Sunday morning by hearing updates from some of our working groups focused on our Chapter commitments, our collaborations with other groups and congregations and our new member committee. May we continue to BE and live Mission as we "love one another" and "spend ourselves for the poor."
