New Windsor Congregational President Sister Mary Catherine Redmond is joining nearly 900 superior generals from around the world at the International Union Superiors General (UISG) Plenary Assembly in Rome this week.
According to the UISG press release, "The theme of the plenary, 'Consecrated Life: A Hope That Transforms' invites women religious to reflect on their mission as a sign of hope and transformation in today's world. Sister Patricia Murray, ibvm, executive secretary of the UISG, recalls the words of Pope Francis, who described hope as 'the capacity to discern, everywhere, signs of hope, the breaking through of the possible into the impossible, of grace where it would seem that sin has eroded all trust.' In these words, Pope Francis describes both the context and the process of igniting hope.
We invite you to pray with us for Sister Mary Catherine and all the superiors general gathered this week in the spirit of UISG, "to build bridges and networks in order to create new strategies that enable women religious to communicate across geographic distances and linguistic and cultural differences, so as to be in communion with one another and to build a global community together."
